Want your dancer to get the most out of their dance class and never miss a minute of fun?
Here are Miss Kelly's Top 5 Tips to help make sure your dancer is ready for lots of dancing and fun in class:
1. Arrive at least 5 minutes early, this gives your dancer time to put on their dance shoes, get any changes of shoes, sticker books and drink bottles (over 5's) ready for going into class.
2. Make sure your dancer has been to the bathroom before class. Many children tend to hold on all day so they don't miss out on fun at school. Don't let them miss out on dance fun, it can take young dancers about 10 minutes to take off crossovers, leotards and tights and put them all back on again.
3. Ensure your dancer's hair is secured away from their face and held securely in place. Hair that falls out of the bun or pony tail or flicks in their faces can be very distracting for a dancer. Don't let their hair become their main focus of their dance class.
4. Give your dancer a healthy snack before class. My Top 5 Healthy Snacks can be found further down the page, however for quick tips, steer clear of high sugar or high salt snacks and make sure there are some carbohydrates in there. For early morning dancers, I recommend making sure they have a nice filling breakfast before class.
5. A water bottle is essential for students from Lavender level, especially when they are participating in two classes back to back. We work hard and sweat a lot in our over 5's classes so a drink bottle is important for re-hydrating. For our Petit Dancer's and Tiny Tapper's I encourage their carer to bring a drink bottle with them and make sure their dancer has a drink before they head into class and after class.
