As we come to the conclusion of another year at PDC, and what an eventful year it has been, I have been reflecting on the journey of the business and our students over the last 4 1/2 years.
When I set out to start my own studio I was determined to make sure every family that attended our Centre had a joyful and positive experience no matter how long they stayed with us to dance. It is what helped me name the Centre ‘Prelude’; an action or event serving as an introduction to something more important. This may seem a strange name saying we aren’t the most important, but the reality is that we know we are just a stepping stone. A stepping stone that helps to develop confidence, persistence and resilience in children and adults. To help them in their futures no matter where their journey takes them. We know that some students may only stay with us a few terms and others may never want to leave, however every student is on their own journey. There is no right or wrong way to live your journey and every person’s will be different and interesting.
Your dancer may have started dancing because you enrolled them at 3 and by age 6, dance no longer sparks joy in their life, but netball does. Maybe they joined with a friend at 7 and love it so much they want to compete so need to move to a studio that offers competition teams. Maybe your teenager hit High School and would rather just do the Dance offered at school as they find it easier to fit it around their homework. This is quite a normal part of life, each person chooses their own journey and along the way we only hope to be privileged enough to have shared a small part of that journey and have shown your dancer the care, love and support that they needed to grow and develop.
We remember your dancer long after they have headed off on their other adventures and only hope the best for them and your family.
If your dancer’s journey brings them back to us after a break, we will love having the opportunity to continue to support and encourage them. Whether they are enjoying our less formal DanceFit Jnr classes or jumping straight into Examination classes, we look forward to continuing to share our Joy for dance with them.
To all our families, past, present, future and those heading off on new adventures next year we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with Joy.
Keep Dancing,
Miss Kelly
